I want to add DS's name to the waitng list of a school but don't know when is the earliest he can start. He will start going to nursery full time from October, the reception class I say in this school seems like a very nurturing environment so I don't think it will be a big difference with his current nursery and it has a better location for our nees, etc. (and it would also save us a lot of money, an important thing to consider when going back to school).

So, when is the earliest a child can attend reception? He was born in Feb 2003. I would probably wait until a term later anyways, but still need to know to know to which list I should add his name. TIA

It depends if the school has one or two intakes a year into reception. If its one then he would go in the September before he is 5. Otherwise the January before he is 5

The earliest would be the beginning of the academic year in which he is 5, so in your son's case it would be Sept 2007.
