I have a REALLY stupid question regarding boarding school prospectus & fees

I feel really stupid asking this as DD is at independent prep but I really don't know the answer lol

Am looking at secondary schools for her and DD wants to board. One of the schools we are considering says fees are;

Years 7-11 (Day) £3235
Boarding (Weekly) £4685
Boarding (Full) £5365

Ok, here's the stupid question. Day fees I understand. If DD was to weekly board would the fees be £4685 OR £4685 (boarding) PLUS £3235 (Day).

I feel so stupid asking this!

Thank you

£4685 if she's boarding there mon-fri, this is per term so times it by three.

Weekly Boarding is £4685 per term
Full Boarding is £5365 per term

That seems pretty reasonable!

The way I understand it is that day boarders arrive for breakfast and leave after dinner. It does not mean tuition fees.

So if your dd was to bard weekly it would cost £4685. No tuition fees on top, they are already included.

wangle99 · 03/09/2009 20:52

Thank you. It confused me as two of our local independent schools list 'tution' and 'boarding' and these have to be added together (otherwise it would be VERY cheap!).

I feel really stupid for asking but I figured somebody out there would know.

Thank you!

Everything hould be included in those fees. Mon-fri or possibly sat morn £4685. This is actually very cheap for boarding. The full boarding fees you have quoted are the same a most day school round here and less than some.

Weekly board means go home at weekends...full board is there all the time except half terms and other holidays.
