Pushy Parent Thread: How did you select the best school for your dc?

What convinced you to trust them with your childs education? Which league tables or inspection reports did you believe? Was there some other form that you followed?

Someone else once gave a good tip (possibly on here): if you see coats, bags etc. all over the place in a disordered fashion, you'll know that the school has too much to worry about to get children to keep it tidy, so a v. bad sign.

It's amazing how quickly schools move. One head was lionized for being one of those superheads, lots of conferences, hushed voices, all the rest of the shebang ("Very Important Figure at the HMC" etc etc).

But when you start mapping the school's results, you start noticing that there's a direct correlation between the slide in academic results and the extent to which the Head is absent being a very important figure at the HMC ...
