Any PTA people around today?

Has anyone ever organised or attended a successful "ladies' evening"? We're thinking of trying to get one organised but have no idea what it would entail! I think it could be a good way to start parents' acivities for the PTA (curently only run things for children) but would love some tips and advice!

We did once do something where we persuaded people we knew (mostly parents) who did Virgin Vie, aromatherapy, relexology, massage, that sort of thing, to set up mini-stalls in the school hall - they did little sessions for parents in an evening, parents paid for say, 10 minutes massage/facial/whatever. Some of the suppliers offered their services for free, others just gave us a %age of their takings.

We didn't make much, but it seemed popular. Just depends on how many people you happen to know who do that sort of thing.

I think that' thesort of thing we had in mind, hassled but the meal seems like a good idea too!

We do one every year, we ask around local traders who come and sell for example, handbags, wooden toys, handmade cards, handmade chocs, books, candles, beauticians (who did eyebrow waxing, reflexology, massage etc...) they pay a fee for their table. We generally have a successful evening... Oh and we have a raffle to win hampers....and sold lots teas and coffees. HTH

We had No.7 come a give a talk, the children drew and wrote why their mum was 'yummy' and the 3 winners got a makeover. We had goodie bags from No.7 and other brands (ask in Boots etc for samples). There was also £5 the No.7 serum (forgot name). Also had a raffle, manicure, jewellery, diabetes, cholesterol testing, and a light supper.

sorry, i misunderstood, ours was just social to get reception mums together.

We have a local pub with a skittle alley which is always good fun, the pub lets us have it for free if we pre order bar meals at a set price we could easily charge for it and make money but we use it as a social event.
