after a long thought we are moving our dd to
a indie school from september. DH is applying for jobs and has an interview in birmingham. Couple of friends who we spoke rave about the schools in birmingham.
we can just about afford private for 1 dd 2nd is only 1o months. No grammar schools where we live.
What is the diff between a indie and grammar school apart from the fees?

DD2 is only 10 months and we are planning to go private when she is 7 or 8 like we are doing with dd1 and dd1 would have finished school then. Not planning on any impartial treatment

would be thankful for more suggestions. Job is in dudley if he gets the job this friday.I have been told solihull is a better area and you can commute to dudley.
We would probably rent initially as I cant imagine that our house will sell in the present economic climate.

She is going to start a small indepemdent school this september which has got excellent A level results and uni placements and they are very good in terms of music education. Total dilemma if he gets a job.

Look at Stourbridge (SW of Bham, in the Dudley LEA). There are good state schools there, nice accomodation, easy access to Bham.
The commute from Solihull (SE) to Dudley (NW) does not sound good: have you heard tell of the horrendous congestion on the M6 at Ray Hall?

Akershully, I have just realised that we have been mis-directed by (a well-named!) OP. She said that DH was applying for a job in Birmingham but really he will be in the Black Country. Do you want the bright lights of the Big City or are you more of a country sort? If the latter, then you could think about Shropshire which has some seriously gorgeous scenery and some very decent schools.

I was adviced to live in solihull and travel to dudley so I presumed that it should be close by.I am not from this country and am going by others suggestions.

Have understood how the slective schools work and I am not sure that that is what I want.Have looked at school in shropshire.Have to wait till tomorrow.He has another interview near where we live next week so I am hoping that he will get that so I dont have to move to birminghamblackcountry
