Have broken a bone in my foot, so ds is going to afterschool club 3 times this week. It is £8 per session. Just as well my neighbour will start picking him up from next week as I cannot afford that every day!

£2 for breakfast club
£7.50 for afterschool club

I think it's a bargain tbh

afterschool club is from 3.20pm to 6pm, there is no way any other chilcare would charge as little as that surely

giantkatestacks · 09/06/2009 10:21

Mine is £9 from 3.15-6.15...and a meal thrown in - I think its quite good value really at £3 per hour.

Northernlurker · 09/06/2009 10:25

Ours is about £8.50 I think ( I get a small employer related discount and also a small second child discount) That is for 2 hours and 40 minutes with tea included. Like the other posters I think that's pretty good!

Breakfast is £4.00

After school £4-£6.50 depending on when they're picked up.

bigchris · 09/06/2009 10:29

£2 for breakfast to me is brilliant because it's not just the cost of all the food they get but also an hours childcare

weegiemum · 09/06/2009 10:30

No idea about after school club, but our breakfast club (Glasgow) is free!

Fimbo · 09/06/2009 10:36

Och I am probably living in the dark ages, I thought it was only about £5 but can see who unrealistic that would be.

£3 - Early morning club from 7:45 (but no breakfast served)
£2.50 - 3:15 to 4:00 pm
£6:00 - 3:15 to 4:45 (includes tea)
£10.00 - 3:15 - 5:30 (includes tea)

poshtottie · 09/06/2009 12:21

The school ds is going to in September free after school club till 6pm.

prettybird · 09/06/2009 12:29

I'm in Glasgow, so like Weegiemum, the breakfast club (state schools) is free - open from 8.15, decanted into the playground (which is supervised by the janitor) at 8.45.

Out of School Club (3.15 to 5.45) is £45/week and includes a snack.

Flibbertyjibbet · 09/06/2009 12:30

The school ds1 starts at in sept is £2 breakfast club and £8 after school club till 6. Both include activites and food.
Breakfast however you can turn up whatever days you like no advance booking, its run by the school staff; whereas after school club is run by a private provider with staff who come onto the premises at 3.30. For that you have to pay a month in advance for your specified days whether you use them or not - and if you need extra days sometimes thats not available unless you have booked in advance, and you can't swap your days around.
We are in east lancs btw.
Other schools in our area do free breakfast or after school clubs if they are in areas attracting government grant money.

Breakfast 50p for us and £2 if you do the whole week with concessions for more than one child. V. good value! Eat as much as you like fruit, cereal, toasted product, fruit juice, hot choc.

They do have Terry Wogan on though, it does have its downside!

£1.50 before school 7:30-8:30
£2.50 after school 3:20-6.30
No food before school, drink and biscuit after school.

Only charged if attend.

prettybird · 10/06/2009 09:42

growingup!

We are lucky with the Breakfast Club that Glasgow City Council offers: I don't mind paying for that from our Council Tax. They have done research that shows that it helps with concentration during the day. For the poorer kids it ensures that they get a good start to the day and for the working parents, it helps by letting them get off earlier.

Our out-of-school club also only costs £55 during the school holidays (8.15 to 5.45, Mon to Fri). Includes all the excursions (trips to Loch Lomond, the local parks, mini zoo visiting and even cinema trips) as well and an afternoon snack but you do need to send in a packed lunch.

jennymac31 · 12/07/2020 09:25

Corblimbea · 12/07/2020 12:37

My son’s state school is £5.95 breakfast and 12.95 after school, but they get food.

Mumoftwoboysxxx · 12/07/2020 21:39

Oh wow. We don’t use the breakfast club, but our after school club is £24 per day for nursery, £20 for Reception, £10 Y1-Y6 (a state school in London)

PipaJJ · 18/07/2020 10:13

£7 per hour

spanieleyes · 18/07/2020 11:12

£2 per day for breakfast club, including cereal, toast, fruit, fruit juice from 7.45 onwards, available on a day to day basis but needs booking the day before to ensure there are enough staff. No after school club.
