how on earth do I record part hours on a time sheet?
I want to write eight and a half hours in tiny boxes and I've just realised that 8.5 is probably not correct (even though I've been sending them in like that for months
Oh and 7 and three quarter hours?

Why isn't 8.5 hours correct? That's what I'd do.

KatyMac · 01/06/2009 22:14

The most important thing is that you don't change without telling them (preferably in writing)

So carry on as you have been .5=30min, .75=45min & ring & discuss it with them - they probably have a system they would rather yu would use

What's wrong with 8.5?

I'd do that. So 7.75

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 01/06/2009 22:14

8.5 is right I think. 7.75 is seven and three quarters.

Twims · 01/06/2009 22:15

7 and 3/4 = 7.75 and 8 and a half = 8.5

TheOddOne · 01/06/2009 22:15

8 hrs 30 mins
7 hrs 45 mins

Would that work?

Or just round it up

pellmell · 01/06/2009 22:23

Thankyou

me again....
so you wouldn't put
8.30 hrs (instead of 8.5)

7.45 hrs (instead of 7.75)

No. It's 8.5 and 7.75. I started out as a banker. I know these things. 8.30 hrs is not 8 and one half hours. It's like 8 hours and eighteen minutes or something! 8.5 hrs is one and one half hours.

You could change the format of your time column to show time. Then you can enter it is hours:minutes.
