It's bound to have been asked before, but how do I find a guitar teacher ....

DS (9) been learning at school for the last year and is getting on pretty well (hes no Mark Knopfler, but you can recognise the tunes he plays ), and is enjoying it.

I'd like to find a teacher to keep it up over the summer, and move him forward longer term. I really want it to be someone with loads of enthusiasm (I'm remembering fairly dry piano lessons when I was a child). For that reason I'm not going to ask the guy who teaches at school (I have sat in on a couple of sessions).

I don't know anyone local to ask. If any of you know of one in Nottingham ....

your local music shop should know of one or two .. they may even have cards in the shop.

Ask the guitar teacher at school. He/she is bound to know of other teachers. If he/she is contracted by the council, they will have a list of registered teachers as well.

Important to get a teacher that is used to dealing with your ds's age.

But I don't want the school guitar teacher to offer their services privately, it would be embarrassing to decline, as I want someone who is a bit more enthusiastic.

sorry - should have read the original post properly!
Daily/Sunday Express is launching a promotion to encourage people to take up music lesssons. I think it starts properly next week.
There are a number of music teaching listing services that are participating, including musicteachers.co.uk, and you can get a free taster session if you collect the vouchers.
