Mind you my dd was up and raring to go this morning.

Friend was telling her dd this morning "I'll be proud of you no matter how you do."
The girl is lovely but quite below average at school -- school have been trying desperately all year to improve her reading, etc. Testing must be so depressing for her.

Only good thing is after this week Yr6s have a week-long residential trip as reward.

Mine wasn't, she'd had a sleepover on Saturday night and didn't get much sleep (i know because I had a phone call at 2am because she accidently pushed the shortcut button ), so I had to drag her out of bed this morning and she left the house in a bit of zombie state, then came back 10 minutes later because she's forgotten her books

good luck to all the other dc's

My dd went to pieces during her mock sats and the results showed, although her teachers marked her up to where she normally is. I don't know why she was so desperate to get there this morning.

You're not alone Fimbo,

My DS was 'excited' this morning - is that very odd
I put it down to just wanting to get them done now and nervous anticipation.

I've just come back from work where I have had to sit with a child who can't read well to read the science paper for her. The first paper was straightforward, the second a bit more difficult - lots on forces and reading information from tables.

Oh well two down, 6 to go...

JLo2 · 11/05/2009 13:16

Oh yes, my DS had his 'falling apart' about 3 weeks ago when he was really feeling the pressure.

Fimbo · 11/05/2009 13:21

JLo2 - she is a funny little thing my dd, very very competitive (she gets that from her dad), she was feeling unwell yesterday and looked a bit white when she got up, I told her she didn't have to go if she wasn't well, but there was nothing on this earth that was going to stop her from being there.

I have ended up taking the day off work, incase I got a phone call asking me to pick her up (it's easier for me to get someone to replace me first thing in the morning, then just leave my job as I would need to hang around waiting for someone to come and cover me).

Ds1 has his science sat today, I just hope they have sorted the scribe for him.....

glinda · 11/05/2009 13:32

My lovely DS is doing Science today too. He told me last night that his teacher said he should have a full english breakfast this morning to help him think! First weekday fry up I have cooked in years! I think that all year 6s deserve a bit of spoiling this week. Good luck to them all.

becklespeckle · 11/05/2009 13:37

My DS1 is doing his this week too, luckily his school don't seem to put any pressure on them and he enjoyed his mocks (and came home telling me he'd done well) so I'm sure he'll be fine! Good luck to all the other DCs taking them!

SparklyGothKat · 11/05/2009 13:42

are the year 2 SATs this week too...?? Dd2 is in year 2 and we haven't heard a thing, just been DS1 that they have pushed for weeks and its all we have heard about

elsiepiddock · 11/05/2009 13:45

I'm in the same boat as you SGK, one in yr2 who is totally oblivious (I think they are doing them around now too) and one in yr6 who has done nothing at school but prepare for weeks on end.

SparklyGothKat · 11/05/2009 13:52

Ds1 has had highflyer classes every friday at 7:30am for weeks and he will do well (he is predicted high 5s) but I have no idea about year 2 lol

Khara · 11/05/2009 14:08

My ds2 (Y2) was doing SATs last week. I don't think the KS1 ones have to be done at a set time. My ds1 (Y6) is doing his this week. Luckily he doesn't seem too worried about them, although he was very keyed up this morning.

cuppateaplease · 11/05/2009 15:53

DS started his today so I've got him doughnuts as a treat - but now he's gone straight to a friends house...........
ooh not sure if the doughnuts will last till he gets home (I must not eat doughnuts....I must not eat doughnuts........

DD had a good day, she had science in the morning which was not too bad apparently, never can tell with DD what that was supposed to mean.

Her teacher and TA gave everyone a good luck card and wrote some lovely words in each.

In the afternoon they played rounders.

karise · 11/05/2009 21:48

DD year 2 came home after her level 3 paper on Friday telling us she found it very difficult to do all the spellings wrong ?
Apparently teachers told them not to worry about spellings which she took to mean 'try to spell everything wrong'! Goodness knows what her report will say!!!

karise · 11/05/2009 21:49

I hope it was only a practise!
