I am looking for other famillies who might be interested in pooling resources in order to employ a full time private tutor(s).
I am a single working parent of 7 year old daughter, who lives close to (just north of) central London. My daughter currently attends a private school close to where we live, where she is doing well (no behavioural or academic problems).
However, I believe that she could have a substantially happier, better (and potentially cheaper!) education in a very small group of children (ie. 5 or fewer) with a fabulous tutor and parental involvement.
Finding a tutor does not seem to be a problem. There are some brilliant, enthusiastic primary school teachers out there, who no longer want to work in schools (with the concomitant paperwork, class sizes etc).
What is proving more difficult is finding other families who might be interested in taking the plunge out of school and into a more unusual (but potentially much more enriching) form of education for their children.
