DS is a bit afraid of VR and I want him to try some at home just to get a bit ore familiar with them and hopefully more confident. He is Yr 5

How you looked at Susan Daughty's "How to do verbal reasoning"? There is also a Bond book of the same name. They go step-by-step through each of the question types.

Bond do books of full papers and 10 minute papers.

I assume your ds will be doing the 11+ somewhere. To find out what type of verbal reasoning he needs to know pop over to this website here.

NFER Nelson form WH Smiths - you can buy packs of 4. Also "Athey" do a good selection of every single type, along with an explanatory book.

But make sure that the papers you are practicing on are the same format as the ones he'll do in the exam - different authorities go for multiple choice or straight answers.
