Feel well out of the dressing up as book character as have avoided for past three years by having two children - drastic measures - but my dh needs to be Mr Tickle (and still be responsible and slightly scary for the day!) and I'd love advice on how to do it - ideally without getting sewing machine out but if I need to I will! Can't do face paint as dh worried might not all come off for important meeting in the evening!
Help!

For the arms, how about get some bright orange stockings and then get about 6 or 8 insides of kitchen rolls, put them down the stockings to create 'arms'. You can then attach the 'arms' to DH's shoulder with tape and then with string to the wrist which will make the 'arms' loop and flop about a bit making them look more Mr Tickly?

Then you need a blue bowler hat - perhaps get a regular one from a charity store and papier mache over top then paint?

Hmmmmm, the body. No idea. I would most likely get a piece of orange material, make a tabard with armholes and a head hole.

The add a pair of orange tights and voila!

Why does he have to go as Mr Tickle?

Would he prefer to go as Prof. Snape? Sorry, not helpful.

But funny! His colleagues have decided that Mr Men are the thing this year! Thanks - v helpful. Last year had to go as what we had the stuff for at the last minute rather than anything planned so trying to be bit more organised this year! Good prep for when dd needs serious costuming that ASDA doesn't sell!

Sorry, but am LOL at the idea of Mr Tickle being responsible and authoritative. Can't be done!!!

What about using swimming woggles (I'm sure you can borrow some)

Then put gloves on the ends? & some how attach at the back

Oh hang on Mr Tickle just has long arms doesn't he, rather than lots of them (I can't remember )

Do you know - I think dh's costume will depend on how he's behaved all week - the no sitting down version if very bad! Just had a thought - perhaps pre school is going to spring a constume demand on me too! Perhaps was on newsletter I skim read then lost! By the way - is there a market for death row/guantanamo bay boilersuits I have missed out on? The things you learn on mumsnet, eh?
