Looking for a good book to teach my DC to play acoustic drums (hes 6)

Does anyone have any experience of either of these books (the local music shop recommended the first one but obviously were hoping to sell me it!)

Drumset Musician by Rick Morgenstein which comes with a play along drum CD (The local music shop recommended this one)

Absolute beginners drums by Dave Zubraski again with a CD

Any other suggestions gratefully received, Obviously DS has limited attention at his age so really it will need to be fun so im thinking the CD may be more use at this stage than the book

...and before anyone says it, yes we will be considerate to our neighbours and invest in practice/silencer pads

DD has Absolute beginners drums. It is very good, it tells you everything including how to set up, maintain, how to sit properly and ofcourse how to play.It is a great book but too much for a six year old so you would have to do it with him but i would recommend it.

Hi, my 9 year old is using Rockschool Grade 4 book with CD - it is excellent. WWW.rockschool.co.uk.
