I am a Special Needs Teacher with over 30 years experience and a Masters Degree, and a shortage qualification. In my January pay packet I was almost £200 down. When queried I was told that I was losing my Management Allowance worth £1900 a year and there was nothing that could be done about it as it was a change that was decided in 2005 by the goverment. It came as a horrible shock, especially as I am the breadwinner with two children including one severely disabled. My husband who is also disabled works 10 hours a week, cannot get DLA and is meanstested out for everything, including CA.We were better off when he was on Incapacity Benefit. Now the rant is over,it does feel like a kick in the teeth.Anyone else affected?

Have you spoken to your union?

I thought that management points were safeguarded for a certain amount of time, but perhaps that has now elapsed.

There was a lot of information about the new TLR points when they were first introduced. Have you moved jobs recently?
