I vaguely remember seeing a thread on this a few months back and wondered if anyone has any good advice for personal statements. I realise they are all very individual but would be interested to see what people have to say.

Thanks

Bumping for you.

Not sure about GTP but I was told by panel that my personal statement for my ITT course was v good - can tell you what was in it if you like?

Typing in a rush but here are things I included:

-Why I wanted to teach at this stage in my career, and particularly this specialism
-What benefits my previous career would bring to my teaching/classroom managment/personal relationships/organisation etc
-School experience (I worked in a non-teaching role in the school I was applying to)
-Why I was applying for GTP rather than PGCE
-Elements of my previous career which enhanced my subject knowledge beyond my academic qualifications
-Activities during my career break which either showed I had a brain or demonstrated my organisational skills - eg I did some IT courses, some charity web site work and took a distance learning BTEC
-Hobbies and personal interests which backed up the other skills

HTH, I'll try to help if you have any other questions.
