Can anyone recommend a board game or card game to help dd learn to recognise the letters of the alphabet?

Thanks

Have a look at some of the printable resources on sparklebox.co.uk - lots to print off too.

There are lots of online games too.

Make your own snap and pelmanism (memory/matching)games. A game I play is 'Go to sleep/wake up'
I write some letters on card (not too many.)
I lay the cards out face up. When I say the name of the card the child turns the card over. They are then asleep. To wake them up I turn the cards back over one by one. If the child can say the letter sound properly (using pure sounds) the letter wakes up. If not it goes back to sleep until they can.
Also write letters on her back, on her hand and get her to guess it. Play 'feel the letter' as well with wooden or magnetic letters.

Not a board game, but dd had a wonderful computer game version of the Dr Seuss alphabet book - nice jazz rather than annoying music and cool animations, with one screen for each letter.

I second the Dr Suess Alphabet book and also foam bath letters, DD picked up alot of her letters from playing with those in the bath.
