Dp made redundant.Thinking of leaving Ireland and going back to UK to Lincolnshire where my family are.Rhey are about 30 mins drive from Lincoln.
Ds is 9 and is home edded. He is bright etc.I just wondered if anyone has experience of primary and secondary schools round there?
Also if we wanted to go down 11+ route would he need to be tutored privately for it?
Am in total muddle really.
TIA.

come back to Suffolk, you know you want to!

Dooby - I passed the 11+ without any tutoring! The only boys school I know anything about is the Kings school in Grantham which has a consistently good reputation. Primary is too long a time ago for me to say much of use except that there are a lot of schools in rural or semi rural communities. These may not be the most thrusting academically speaking but I have always had the impression that they are offering a rounded education with a strong community base and good pastoral care. that's just my gereral impression based on growing up in the county - so don't move based on my say so!

I live in lincs near to sleaford and would echo what the OP says our local school has 86 pupils and whilst a few pass the 11+ each year, it has a a good community and lovely pastoral care, everyone is really friendly and helpful.

The boys grammer school in sleaford Carres grammar school is excellent and has a good track record.

Sorry couldn't get on today as DD (3) poorly, i do know of a 4 bedroom house empty and know the guy renting it sort of as my friend is also renting of him, will get his details tomorrow and email you if you like.

It is in the village of Billingbrough and there are several schools nearby, including ours Brown's of Horbling.

Doobydo

Just had thought, might be worth contacting the council, as someone i know vaguely left her DH in July, moved to northampton so stay with parents and is now moving into a 3 bedroom council house in Horblinbg, there are a couple empty. Also know that next village along there are a couple of empty HA houses, of course they might be allocated. But if you don't ask you don't know.

Hope this helps if you want anymore info you can email me on [email protected]
