Hi all my 4 year old ds has got to dress up as a french person for next week. Got a striped top.
Any other ideas welcome
Thought about a string of onions round his neck but someone said it is garlic. Not sure and how am I going to do this?
Not good with using my imagination
Thanks

CountessDracula · 18/09/2008 15:42

Petit Bateau

shelleylou · 18/09/2008 15:42

HuwEdwards · 18/09/2008 15:43

brimfull · 18/09/2008 15:45

and a cigarette

Mercy · 18/09/2008 15:48

A boy at our school is half-French and he came dressed in an outfit very similar to Fio's suggestion.

Beret, moustache, a red neckerchief and some onions round his neck.

sidey · 18/09/2008 15:52

how do i do the onion round the neck think. Can't use real onions can i?

How weird - are they doing some kind of 'allo 'allo themed day?

sidey · 18/09/2008 16:15

Its diversity day and there class has the french theme.
I am rubbish at things like this
Got a beret and striped t shirt but could do with plastic onions or garic but don't know where i'm going to get them

Baguette under his arm. Plastic food - try Argos or ELC.

georgiemum · 18/09/2008 16:19

Oh - better idea. Go as a mime (a la Marcel Marceau)!

ruddynorah · 18/09/2008 16:23

diversity day and they want them to dress as stereo types?

witchandchips · 18/09/2008 16:26

what about an actual french person or some thing like a resistance fighter

sclubheaven · 18/09/2008 16:29

lol ruddynorah!

Maybe they should have been asked to bring in different nationalities food or something. That's where real diversity lies, not in clothes!

Anna8888 · 18/09/2008 16:33

Khaki or navy blue bermuda shorts, with a sharp crease down the middle.

A Lacoste polo shirt in a classic colour (white, navy or pale pink).

A side parting and hair glued down with gel.

Moccasins and ankle socks.

Oh - and he should be very, very clean all over

PotPourri · 18/09/2008 16:35

very clean??

ruddynorah · 18/09/2008 16:36

the 4 year olds i see in french all seem to wear dungarees. that was in the country mind you, not paris

orangina · 18/09/2008 16:37

Forget the onions/garlic, get him to hold an orangina bottle...
