Does anybody remember my thread about atheist DD1 not getting a teaching job at a CofE school because a Catholic got it instead...???

thread here

Well, in an astonishing turnaround she ended up getting a job at the RC school where the woman who got the CofE job had been training this year

karma

It is, isn't it

When DD1 was at the school, after having got the job, she saw the woman who got the CofE job & she looked really fed up (the position DD1 got hadn't become available at the time the CofE one came up)

(NB we do have a Catholic friend who teaches at the RC school & she gave DD1 a few key phrases to use re Christian values etc)

It is still a bleeding minefield though

There is at least one atheist teaching RE at the RC comp where I work so I don't find it surprising.

I am always amazed at some of the stereotypes that are reinforced here on MN wrt faith based schools. [not nec. this topic, just a thought that comes up in my mind now and then.]

Congratulations to her! Did she get any difficult questions at interview.

A friend of mine (atheist) went for an interview at RC school for an admin post and got asked her views on contraception

snorkle · 25/07/2008 12:59

roisin! Can't see how that was the least bit relevent. Hope she told them to mind their own business.

Well done to WW's dd - hope she enjoys the job and the daily genuflecting doesn't get her down.

roisin · 25/07/2008 17:29

Yes, I think she decided at that point that she really wasn't interested in the job, and told them exactly what she thought of their interview questions

Hulababy · 25/07/2008 17:41

Congratulations on her job!

WendyWeber · 27/07/2008 16:58

Thank you!

She is really looking forward to starting in Sept; not sure if she has to actually genuflect, roisin, or simply bow her head & look reflective...
