Anyone know of the website which compares schools?

A friend mentioned she's been looking at it, but couldn't remember what it's called.

It gave you the best nursery in the area (to save you trawling through lots of Ofsted reports) and awarded stars to each school,so you could ealily see which school was the best when comparing.

Any one any idea what I'm talking about?

I don't see how you can possibly tell which is the best from a website. You could tell the best SATs results but that doesn't =best school. You could perhaps get points from Ofsted. I should find the ones that you can comfortably get to and go and visit on a normal day. It is very personal, the best school to suit the DC next door is not necessarily the best school for your DC.

I'm able to choose the best school by visiting - I'm not a dumb head - and I'm not choosing schools atm -I'm just curious about this site and want to be nosey.

anybody have any idea? - I've googled, but nothing can't findthing that seems to fit.

I don't see how they could possibly do a site like that-the criteria would be impossible. The closest you could get would be the league table of exam results which tells you that a particular school had a good year 6 that particular year.

It comes from 2 things Ofsted and Key stage 2 SATS results. I looked at my Education authority and from what I know of schools in the area I wouldn't agree with the ranking. It would be a good first guide if you know nothing about the area-after that you have to visit. The school that comes top in my area is excellent, but it is a very unusual school and wouldn't suit a lot of people. (probably the people who used the site would be in for a shock!)

On upmystreet you can search for schools by distance from a particular postcode, name, and various other criteria - so quite handy.
