If you live in this area and your child sat the 11+, which SW Herts consortium school would you send them to if you had the choice and why?

Do you have a child at one of these schools? If so, what do you like/dislike about the school?

In my experience, Parmiters and SCD are generally the most sought after, particularly due to results.

I sense that SCD has the better pastoral support reputation.

WGSG and WGSB are also favoured by those who are keen for single sex.

my DD went to one of the others and had an amazing experience (she left this summer).

if your child has a particular interest such as music or drama or language, then I’d focus on researching that as offerings may differ at different schools. Apart from that, my understanding is that all of the consortiums schools offer wonderful education (generally speaking, I assume there are some families who have different experiences).

Well it’s a reasonably big area so a lot of people focus on their local one/most straightforward transport option. Is there one in particular you are interested in?

Thanks. Yes, SCD and Parmiters although I think transport to Parmiters isn’t ideal. I think SCD is a bigger school.

Depends what score your child got and your location what's realistic? Every year it gets more and more competitive.

For what it's worth my DD liked the Girls and Queens.
Do think about transport and how long it takes in our very congested town and the friendships - easier if you go local
Visit the schools and see which your child likes. Don't forget to visit your local non selective options as every year huge numbers of parents are caught out by not doing this - results and application deadline are very close together
