hello, son just turned 3 in August and started pre school. He has had some difficult behaviour since starting. Bear hugging from behind, hair pulling, scratched. He is a 99 centile boy and so the danger is him bear hugging from behind is knocking kids over. They say it’s not from ill intent. We reduced rough play with his older sibling at home to help. He had a period of a week and a half of no incidents after about a week of the above where they redirected him with books etc. he has now changed to mornings on his extended phased settling in and the behaviour has spiked again. We think they are taking a different approach now with time out in a cloakroom area and the deputy head has been to see him (so our son says) and shouts “no” to him. Our son was bitten by another child and that was brushed off as “they all do it”. We understand they all go through boundary testing behaviour etc.
my question is does anyone have advice or experience with it. He is nothing like they describe at home, grandparents, his activities or play centres so we are struggling to understand why he is doing it there. He only started mid Sept and has been in for a total of 3 hours per day on his phasing. We also wonder if the change in discipline and attention to it has caused him to become more dysregulated perhaps. He joins in playing loves outdoors we have good feedback also. At a loss sadly at the moment. Thank you
