Education: SLT promotion at 55

Has anyone been promoted to a Senior Team position after 55 in a new school? I’m qualified and experienced but I just don’t see women of my age represented in any schools/mats locally. I’m interested in hearing from women who have secured a promotion to AHT post 50. For context it’s T&L with SEND and Literacy. I have NPQSL and LL and I’m starting NPQ SEND next month and I’ve been HoD for 16 years in three different settings but I’ve got the defeatist fear after trying for AHT in a previous MAT in my 40s but being left standing by younger (less qualified and experienced) candidates. It’s seriously knocked my confidence but I’ve got plenty left in my tank and I want to try again.

My last headteacher was a woman of 55+ and the staff and children absolutely adored her. I really wouldn’t blink an eye at a lady post 55 getting the job. The proof is in how they act and whether they are good at the job. Most staff feel a bit anxious with change in general. Go for it, if it’s what you want!

My SLT consists entirely of people 50+.
Can I clarify: is that SENCO plus literacy lead? Because that would be a no fucking way from me.

No, it’s T and L whole school with a teaching commitment with the lowest attainers in my subject, some of whom will be SEND. I couldn’t do SENDCO as well. I’d implode!
