Securing School placement for L3 TA training

I enrolled on L3 Supporting Teaching and Learning yesterday. I'm now in a panic as schools are shut and I need to secure a placement.
I have been volunteering, 2 afternoons in a primary school, for the past 2 years. I'm a 1:1 reading helper supplied by a charity. This has gone well but doesn't count as a placement as I work independently and outside of the classroom environment (we do book based activities that would be disruptive in class).
I want to keep that role going this year and find a fresh placement.
Have I left it too late? Am I going to be a huge nuisance trying to ring schools next week, which is when they reopen locally?

Instead of ringing round why not send some emails this week? Check websites for email addresses and put your request in the title.
You can add your current experience in the email. Would this school not take you on? Send them a different email.

Thankyou for answering 24Dogcuddler. Yes, I will email this week. I'm just a little concerned that emails will get lost in the "chaos" of the first week, and my course starts the following week. I'll do it though.
I'm tusseling with whether to ask my current school. 2 very different roles. What if they say yes and then I'm rubbish in the classroom? 🤣 I'm laughing but it's a genuine fear.
I'm not worried about them saying no though - I'm sureal they'd do it tactfully.

I’m sure you will feel more confident once you get started. You already know people there so could be a bonus for you.
Good luck.

Update - the school where I already volunteer have come up trumps. I now have serious imposter syndrome and fear of being a hindrance rather than a help 😂
