Advice needed re dd2 's so called friend please?

I am going to have a word with dd2's teacher in the morning because she come's home every day saying that X has been mean to her today. It started out with the - I'm not your friend anymore etc - and usually they were soon friends again. BUT recently its X has scribbled on my work, X squashed me, X wouldn't let me see the TV when they were watching something and today X threw sand in my face! Obviously dd2 is very upset by this and I think its unacceptable behaviour even from reception children. I feel it needs nipping in the bud before it degenerates any further. The problem is I speak to X's mother in the playground, not bosom buddies or anything but we do chat. So I feel I should say something to her so that she doesn't think I'm being all nice to her but complaining about her daughter behind her back! Help what do I say? I hate confrontations and am fretting about it now.

I think the teacher would probably just have a word with the child and won't necessarily mention it to the girl's mother just yet. He/she will then be able to keep an eye on the situation and probably only involve the mother if they thing there's a continuing problem. If it were my child doing those things in school I think I'd rather hear it from the teacher than the parent tbh.

I think when you talk to the teacher you should ask how they get on in school, whether they've noticed anything at all ... and ask her to keep an eye on them and their relationship

Hah typical - get myself all geared up and then... dd2 not well so not gone in today!! She did just casually drop into the conversation today that X spits at her as well . Why is there always something, can we never have absolutely nothing to worry about, even for just a short period of time?

I had a similar problem with my dd earlier this year. Her school has a split year system that means that 1/2 the children she was in reception with are now in the class below her (yr1) and she is in yr 1 - 2. Her 3 best friends from last year are younger than her and went into the yr1 class in sept and after a few weeks they started running away and being unkind. One girl in particular seemed to be the ring leader and I get on quite well with her mum so I considered talking to her about it but in the end I spoke to the teacher as I didn't want to upset anyone. The teacher hadn't noticed anything was amiss before I spoke to her but promised to keep an eye on things and now everything seems to have settled down again. Good luck for tommorow.
