Secondary schools in Hove

Hi! We are moving down to Hove and applying for an in-year school place for our daughter in Year 7. She’s had a few hassles with “mean girls” this year which has knocked her confidence :-( so we’re really keen to find a school where kindness and good behaviour is the norm. We are looking at Kings, Blatchington Mill, Hove Park and Varndean and would really appreciate anyone with recent experience of any of these. Thank you so much for your help!

We've had a good experience with Blatchington Mill. Our eldest joined halfway through year 8 and they did a good job getting him settled, paired with another student 'buddy' for his first few weeks, etc, and he soon found his tribe. It's a huuuge school so has potential to be impersonal but they're pretty good as far as we've seen at making it seem less so.

We also found the schools dept at the council super helpful when we were figuring out in-year places before moving here.

Good luck!
