Hi, Having real problems finding somewhere that my son can take AQA Computer Science GCSE as a private candidate it seems the practical component is the issue. So far have been on JQA to search for appropriate exams centres but as soon as they hear its AQA / there's a practical component, they say they are unable to proceed. Wondering whether he will need to change examining boards. Anyone had this issue and found a way round it? Many thanks

I can’t help specifically on Computer Science but I have been researching GCSE’s as a private candidate and all exam centres that allow private candidates appear to exclude courses where they is an element of coursework. They only seem to allow courses that are graded on the exams only which is understandable.

The iGCSE’s tend to just be exam based if that’s any help?

Thinking may have to shift him over to a different examining board..will look into CIE thanks

Tutors and Exams offer AQA GCSE CS as long as you work with an approved tutor for the NEA. Although lots don’t sit AQA CS when they are a private candidate.
