Richmond - Year 6 places

Hi all - planning to move to Twickenham/ Teddington/ Kingston area this summer. I have two kids, one currently in reception and one in Year 5. Does anyone know if places come up at good primaries in Year 6? Obviously looking to be in the catchment for one of the good secondaries. I looked at the vacancies page on the council website and there were no places but I don't know how much that changes. I'm not considering faith schools. Thanks in advance!

There are plenty of spaces at Holy Trinity, Thomson House and various nearby, not quite the areas you mention but certainly not to be sniffed at

@rachelg1974 at this stage of the year (after census day, which influences school funding), primary schools are preparing their year 6 for SATs. Most will have reduced their year 6 admission number below their original PAN so that they don't need to admit children. If your preferred school has done this then an appeal is likely to be successful.

Assume op means y6 for September entry. The bigger issue will be Reception/Year 1 with infant class size restrictions.

Ah yes, but if she is looking at vacancies in current year 6 as a benchmark there probably won't be any.

Any current year 5 vacancies may fill quickly as other families will be doing the same as the op and making strategic moves.

Reception/year 1 will be fine. Primary chools are undersubscribed due to the low birth rate
