Afternoon guys,
Can anyone help, I have applied for a bursary for my son for Reception age. The school said they would send out the results early Feb. I had an offer back in October which I accepted. But I am still waiting. Does this mean it’s negative and have been left to the end.

They should let you know either way. Why don’t you call them?

Contact the school directly and ask? Its only middle of February x

Thank you for your reply, I didn’t want to appear pushy, so thought I’d put it out on here first.
has anyone every received a bursary for Reception age, just wondering what % is realistic to hope for

@HopefullyMummy2026 Hi , yes I received a bursary for both my boys in reception . One was 25 years ago and we got 85%
the other was 5 years ago and he got 30 %
now he has 75% in year 6 , it depends on the school

@HopefullyMummy2026 he went for an assessment when he was 4 , the next day first class post they offered him the bursary for the whole time he was there , it is a top boys pre prep in central London . At the time they did not give bursaries but they obviously like him and his parents , we were interviewed as well !

Oh wow!
he must be very talented, what sort of signs did you see that showed he was going to be quite clever?

do you as parents have to have something to offer the school?

@HopefullyMummy2026 he was walking very early at 9 months , speaking early , swimming right across the width of the pool at 2 ,
he was very bright , reading paper backs in reception ect all 3 of my children I put in the effort and they are very bright . No ! I didn’t have to do anything to help the school but I did volunteer second hand shop , cake sale sometimes and I was on the committee.
