Hi, I am new here and looking for a tutor for my twins (boy and a girl), who will be sitting the 7+ for Westminster, St Paul’s Juniors, King’s, Bute House, and Latymer. While Westminster is our first choice, we know how competitive it is, and we’d be happy if they secured a place at any of these schools.

Our children respond much better to a tutor than to us, we’re therefore hoping to find an experienced tutor who can come to our home in South West London for one-to-one lessons in Maths, VR, NVR, and comprehension. Ideally, we’re looking for someone who has successfully placed children in these schools this year.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations from parents whose children have recently been offered places at one of these schools.

I’d also be grateful if anyone could share the typical going rate in Central London for tutors with recent success in 7+ prep, so we know what to budget for.
Thanks!

Thank you! That aligns with what our friends quoted us as well—the rates start at 100 and increase from there.

From what we’ve seen, the tried-and-tested ones are pretty expensive.

Hi, I noticed you already have one for other subjects, and I messaged you earlier. I’d really appreciate it if you could share the details of yours. Thank you so much!

Do you know when they’ll be sitting the exams? From our experience, starting early and encouraging lots of reading makes a big difference. We only brought in a tutor for the final three months, which was quite intense, but thankfully it paid off and we got into our preferred school. She charges £100/hour—happy to share her details if you’d like to DM me.

Hi, we are also prepping our son for 7+ Kings, SPJS and we started a bit early and we booked some online group sessions and some free worksheets. We booked him for online group sessions with PrepPlus and their teacher Clare is so supportive. Highly recommened.
If you are looking for face to face short summer courses you check yellow bird ..

Thank you — we’ve actually managed to find someone great through recommendations from parents whose children received offers from our top three choice schools. I personally prefer face-to-face teaching, as my kids tend to get distracted quite easily. But I’ll definitely check out Yellow Birds as well — thank you for suggesting it

Thanks — we’ve actually already started and will be taking the exams this autumn. I think we might even be using the same tutor, as she mentioned working with a child for a short time who ended up getting into Bute, which sounds very promising. Congratulations to your little one — hopefully we’ll make it as well! Bute is definitely on our list too.
