Maths School experiences

Does anyone have any children who go to maths schools in the UK, or is anyone a student? For example CMS, ICLMS, KCLMS... How is the experience of going to one of these schools? Do they have a good social life between other students outside of school?

I have a child in Y12 at one. Has a long commute and although has made friends at the school, doesn't socialise with them outside, it's probably too far away.

Having said that, he's not the most naturally sociable but has friends close to home from his time at school before moving to the maths school and seems happy enough.

Outside of social life, the STEM education provision is streets ahead of their old school that he did GCSEs at. The quality and engagement of teachers is significantly higher. The super-curricular activities are very impressive.

The downside is the relatively weak provision of extra-curricular activities like sport, music etc which his old school was much better at, partly due to its size.

He weighed up the pros and cons and decided to go to the maths school which he doesn't regret.
