Hello, I’m a PGHS parent (the school is unexpectedly closing) looking at independent schools for my year 2 daughter. We have viewed Lyonsdown and are impressed. It would be great to know from a current parent how the school is? Is the teaching strong? Is the ‘well-being’ program real or just marketing?
Are the girls pressured to learn at an accelerated rate (as they claim students leave at 2+ years ahead of the National curriculum). What is the homework like? Any insights would be welcome.
There is an old thread on Mumsnet from 2023 that is very negative. It pre-dates the current head, Mrs Hall. I would be curious to know if she has effectively addressed the weaknesses of the school that were identified in that thread? (Eg. bullying, poor teaching, 11+ prep commencing too late in year 5, lack of support for students and parents.)
