Looking at primary schools for the application for a Reception place in Sept 2026.

My last little Ds is a very quiet, anxious child who has reduced language skills (no behavioural issues), I am interested in sending him to a smaller local school. My two top choices are St Mary Magdalene’s Primary in Mortlake and Holy Trinity Primary Richmond (I am located equal distance between the two).

Is there anyone local with first hand recent experience at SMM primary or Holy Trinity Primary.

I know that SMM is a 1 form entry and HT will be reducing to 1 form entry from Sept 2026, which is a positive for us. Both schools score highly academically. But I wonder if anyone has anything to add on the non academic, nurturing side of either school.

My older DS went to HT and loved it there. But this was some years ago now.
I would have ruled the school out initially as it has always been 2 form entry and as I’ve mentioned we are under the impression that as DS is quite timid and shy that a smaller school environment may suit him better? So now that HT will be reducing capacity permanently, it is definitely in the running.

I understand that all schools should be able to meet every child general needs I was just after any personal experiences, good or bad with these schools in particular.

(To add - Kew Riverside could be a lower option on our list- it seems to be a very small school but if anyone has anything to add on this school would also be good).

Thank you for your time.
