Has anyone been through a Stage 3 Independent Complaints Panel at an independent school?
I’d really value any insights on:
– How the hearing was structured (time given, who spoke first, whether parents had much chance to present).
— was it really impartial?
– Whether the panel actually examined safeguarding/welfare issues or mainly checked whether procedures were followed.
– If you were allowed to bring someone with you (friend, adviser, solicitor) — and whether that helped.
– How detailed the panel’s findings/recommendations were afterwards.
– Any surprises, practical tips, or “wish I’d known that” moments.
— how was your outcome?
I’m not after legal advice — just trying to understand the process better from those who’ve been there. Any experiences would be really helpful.
