How does this work for Late university Clearing?

If Clearing 2025 will end in Late-October, yet mostcourses begin in September, how does this work?

Could I ask for a place through clearing for a coursethat’s already begun if it’s still advertised? If so, when I enrol, what happens? No Fresher’s week; no course induction - just straight teaching?

And didn't take repeated gap years looking for people to blame. He achieved something. You really don't get what they are looking for, do you?

Dearover · 11/09/2025 19:41

You would love my (Oxford graduate) daughter!!!

If he had so much potential, why did he ABB?

A level grades are only one factor in university admissions and not everyone has the same advantages - which is why contextual offers exist.

Dearover · 11/09/2025 19:41

Have you ever even attended an open day?

If he had so much potential, why did he ABB?

Well he’s president of the union so he’s achieving already.

And he didn’t miss the deadline for applying to Oxford,

He plays sports, he performs in plays, he is president of a music society.

I don’t see why it makes a difference though.

Even if you had applied and were rejected, and other people applied and were accepted it wouldn’t matter. It would just mean that Oxford didn’t want you and they did want other people l

How do you think you will cope with the tutorial system? Are you robust enough to gave your work and opinions criticised by your peer group & tutors every week?

He obviously has a lot going for him if he is the OU president to be

The OP isn't robust enough to apply to Oxford or to answer the questions in these multiple threads. It's not going to happen.

Oh….🤦‍♀️

Oh please no, not this OP again

MO6 · 11/09/2025 19:45

He didn’t take repeated gap years as when he missed his offer, Oxford let him in whereas Cambridge didn’t let me in when I missed mine even though I didn’t get extra time.

Right. They didn’t.

A different university didn’t let in a different person.

Well they obviously saw something in him. And Cambridge didn't with you and took someone from the pool instead, I imagine.

Are you going to do the foundation year?

I can't see law being a good career path....

I guess I can sort of revel in the fact that due to his recent controversy, he will be booted out of his position as Oxford Union President which will make feel much better.

Unlikely.

Dearover · 11/09/2025 19:51

So please put us out of our misery. Are you going to:

  1. Cambridge Foundation year
  2. Manchester Met by accident
  3. Applying to Manchester uni
  4. UCL
  5. Sit in your bedroom

Miss, miss, I vote 5!

I will wait for my coursework issue to be resolved, if it is, I will normally apply to Oxford with 3 A-Stars and my story documented by my referee.

If it isn’t, I will definitely make a fraudulent application as I will do anything to make sure I get what I deserve.

Well, anyone making a fraudulent application doesn’t deserve a place so yes, you probably will get what you deserve!

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 11/09/2025 19:54

Fraudulent application???? What now??

Good luck with that 😂

Maybe he excelled at interview, maybe there is something in his background which gave him an edge, who knows or cares? Stop looking for comparatives , you cannot possibly know the whys and wherefores, what you read may not even be true. dc also missed their offer(by a couple of marks on each subject) was rejected and disappointed. They moved on and so must you. You have a second chance now, they didn’t but they have made the most of what was on offer, not chasing rainbows. Refocus on your own life , you cannot change what has happened now but can grab opportunities as they present themselves. A poorly planned gap year, taken out of petulance and frustration, will not be of any benefit to you longer term.

MO6 · 11/09/2025 19:56

I simply meant I would say I got an A-Star in the history (which is what I would have got if the coursework issue wasn’t thrust onto me). That obviously won’t be necessary to do if it gets resolved!

That’s not really making me undeserving of a place as I would have got an A-Star if the test centre didn’t mess things up; and if people like George can get in with ABB, I deserve a chance.

Dearover · 11/09/2025 19:56

So another year sitting in your bedroom?

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 11/09/2025 19:56

3 A*s doesn’t automatically grant you a place at Oxford. Doesn’t quite work like that 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh come on, you have to be on a wind up. If you make a fraudulent application and get found out how do you think that's going to help with a career in law.

Pointless talking to you though. I've said on previoua threads you should do the foundation year at Cambridge, it's a great opportunity, but here we are, you're still sitting around waiting for this fantasy Oxford place to fall in your lap.

It's never going to happen. You aren't going to Oxford. Ever.

Offers aren’t made on grades alone…
