May/June.

Year 12s take study leave for the short time around their exams and return to school to start their A2s.

Year 13s leave to sit their exams and don't come back.

Kids sit their exams at school, although most of the kids that are at the MLD school I am working at do not sit GCSEs. They finish school offically 23 June.

The second year of A level exams are called A2's - DD has her first one on Friday, though that's quite late, a lot of her friends have earlier ones (some before half term, which was last week) - it depends on the subjects you're doing, and which exam board you're with. Her last exam is on June 19th, she says the last one any of her friends have is the 25th. She doesn't have to go back after her last exam, though she does have to return all her books & get 'signed off' to show she's paid for all her books, photocopying etc
