Private High School Provisional Offer

Hello everyone, my daughter is Year 4 and I have put her on a couple of waitlists for private high schools for year 7 in 2028. I sent one application in last week and paid $400 to be on the waitlist, however I received a provisional offer beginning of this week and ask us to pay $1,900 within 2 weeks. To be honest, this particular school is a backup for us , I did not expect an offer to be this quick, we have not even done a school tour yet. Is this normal, and what does it mean if we don't accept this provisional offer within the deadline? Does she still have a chance to get an offer later? I have called our preferred high school, however they only going to offer tour and interview next year and will confirm our placement by then. (I thought this is more normal timeline). What should I do? Really need your advice!

You are obviously in the States. You have the opportunity to secure your child a place and stop all the worrying about where she will go.Alternatively, you pay the money and lose it if she gets a place in your first choice.
