Have you a ucas application already? If so you need to be released from any existing offers before you can accept another. You can ring around on results day (or sooner if you have grades in hand) and then be released if they accept you and can then make the offer on ucas. It may be wise to have a shortlist as physically you can’t juggle that many calls and others will be doing same.

There's a really good step by step application guide and video on here.

Once you've started your UCAS application you need to find a course. See which universities that offer it are in clearing. If you're a mature student are you able to move or do you need a local university? Think about how long you'd be travelling for. You can filter the results on UCAS to focus on your needs. Make a list, start phoning round, and see if you get any offers. Then go back to your UCAS application to enter details of the offer.
Good luck!

I teach at a university and have been an admissions tutor so I'm happy to answer any questions.
