Has anyone had any experience with Hallfield nursery in Edgbaston? (Part of Hallfield school) I am not from Birmingham and I am thinking of sending my child here for nursery- DS will have just turned 1 when I send him! Any experiences/ opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Our daughter started in the nursery at Hallfield School in Birmingham, it is a private school in case any other schools exist with similar name, and after four long years with the school, my strongest advice would be: think twice before signing up.
Yes, the school looks shiny from the outside — new buildings, modernised classrooms, plans for 11+ expansion — all very impressive. But behind the fresh paint lies a toxic working culture where the best teachers quietly disappear, leaving behind those who know how to play the internal politics game.
If your child happens to be in the “inner circle” — the club within the club — you’ll see miracles: scholarships, leadership roles, and special treatment in sports and academics. If not, brace yourself. You’ll be paying full fees (while the chosen ones get hefty discounts) for second-rate teaching and a steady dose of frustration.
We raised our concerns, complete with evidence, but the management seemed less interested in fairness and more in keeping the illusion polished. Sadly, once your child has made friends and settled in, it becomes very hard to move them — we learned that the hard way after four years.
No one warned us before we joined, so consider this your friendly heads-up: great facilities and Polished Marketing don’t make a great school. It is certainly true for Hallfield.
