School Recommendations SE6 and nearby

Hi all,

I’m looking for recommendations for good primary schools in the SE6 area (Catford and nearby). We’re starting to think seriously about school options and would really appreciate any insights—both positive experiences and things to watch out for.

If you have any personal recommendations or know of schools that are particularly strong (or ones to avoid), I’d be so grateful to hear your thoughts.

Thanks so much in advance!

There are lots of great primary schools but SE6 is a broad area, it will very much depend where in SE6 you are as catchment areas are usually small.

Thanks, that’s really helpful! I’m based in Bellingham. If you have any personal recommendations or know schools with consistently small catchments, I’d love to hear!

It also depends if your child is male or female. We found boys options were far more limited as there’s a fair few decent girls schools which cream off most of the girls. A couple which offer priority for students meeting certain criteria in sports/music as well (prendergast, kingsdale for example).

best bet is to check the Lewisham website, they produce a pretty comprehensive document each year with last home to school
distance and admissions, which will give you a decent idea.

there’s a lot of private choices if that’s an option?

Missed that! Plenty of good primaries in the area, secondary a different kettle of fish.

Plenty of good schools in the area. My eldest is at Sandhurst and we’re very happy. I hear good things from other parents with children at Torringdon Rd and Brindishe Green. Holy Cross is an amazing school (if you’re Catholic).
