We just moved to the UK and look to find a primary school for our daughter starting reception this year. Any leads/reviews for schools in NW9 catchment? Thanks in advance

I don’t know the area, but just to say, you have missed the usual application period, as you may be aware, so while you will be offered a space, it may not be at the school that you prefer.

You are advised to accept it (contact the LA to find which schools have spaces) and you can go on the waiting list for preferred schools as well.

Google Compare School Performance and enter your borough (if you're close to the border, you can try other boroughs too).

This can give you a good starting point for exam results at different schools which you can cross-reference with Ofsted reports. I also recommend joining the local Facebook mums and dads group and searching for feedback about different schools.

There are loads and loads of schools that are underenrolled for reception for September. So you are likely to be able to be (a little) picky, but as ever you'll need to weigh up travel vs exam results/ofsted etc. Generally, the closer you are to the school, especially if you're able to walk, that is very beneficial.

I would ask MN admin to change the title of your post to include “NW9” otherwise you’re unlikely to get the specific recommendations you’re after. Good luck with it!
