Hi

I have accepted a new position in Luton and I am new to this location.

I am considering whether it would be advisable to stay in Milton Keynes and commute to Luton.
I have two children in primary school and would like to find a suitable school that caters to their educational and extracurricular needs, as both are interested in sports. My husband is an IT professional currently seeking employment.

Could you please advise on a good area that would accommodate my children's needs and provide a manageable commute to Luton?

My partners family and his DD live in the Luton/Dunstable area and attend school there, it's not the best. It's got quite high crime and, although I am sure there are some greats schools, are majority are not. My partner finds that there are so many children that do not speak good English that the lessons are slow and often those children require more attention than the fluent English speakers.

I don't know as much about Milton Keynes, but I would (and probably will in the future) choose to raise a family in the areas/villages surrounding Milton Keynes

Thank you so much @Drummend01

I would appreciate any insights or experiences regarding schools in Milton Keynes.

According to Google Maps, the travel time from Milton Keynes to Luton is approximately 30 minutes and 1 hour by public transport. However, is commuting this distance feasible on a daily basis?

That depends on personal preference really, I travel 45 mins each way to work because I can’t afford to live closer and I would commute up to an hour if it meant my family could grow up in a nicer area. There are good road links between the 2 via either the M1 or A5 but as with any commuter route, it’s temperamental if there’s roadworks or an accident.

Driving from Milton Keynes to Luton at rush hour takes a long time. It can take over one hour at rush hour.
Bedford and Flitwick have trains to Luton.
