Any teachers out there? Advice needed re letter of resignation...

I have just been offered a post at a new school, so will have to resign from my current post, and I don't have a clue how to do it!
I have drafted a rough letter, but I don't know when my resignation date is (is it the end of the summer term? If so who is employing me and paying my wages in the summer?)

Also, who do I send it to? The head, but what about the governors and county hall?

Thanks for any advice.

Give it to the Head by the end of the half term. Resign as of August 31.

Thanks everyone, yes it all makes sense now!

I think that you have to do it by May 31st.

Thanks AbbeyA,
I rang County Hall and they said May 30th, but as that is in the half term how do I get the letter to my head? I don't want to hand it in yes as my appointment is subjuct to references/contract, and I only interviewed in Wednesday.

Have you told the Head that you are going to resign? I expect they would know if you are using them as a referee. I would wait until it is definite before you hand the letter in. Can you deliver it by hand in half term?

Yes, she does know.
What I have done is phoned my new school to confirm contract is in the post, and handed in a post dated letter of resignation, explaining that I would withdraw it if necc.
Thanks for your help.
