Really struggling to find accommodation in Dublin

Hi my son is a student doing a year in industry in Dublin and is really struggling to find accommodation. We keep coming up against online sites that people are saying are scammers and don’t know who to trust . Because he is staying a year uni accommodation doesn’t cover that long . Anyone got recommendations that are genuine as time is running out ?

click on the little blue person on the top right of the screen, and you will see private messages as one of the options.

Don't pay a deposit before he has seen the place and has the keys - plenty of scams, the housing market is crazy and there is very little supply. He will need to come over physically to secure somewhere, otherwise the likelihood of getting scammed is very high - unless he can go through his university or employer.

You might have more luck posting this in the Craicnet section.

We always used daft.ie when I was in Uni there may be better sites now but as others have said do not pay before he has seen the place and has the keys. Better to do bank transfer than cash - make sure there is a paper trail. There is a massive shortage of places in Dublin - he might need to consider staying a bit further out and commuting in. A lot of people do advertise rooms in family homes on local facebook pages too so it might be worth joining some of the community groups for the areas he is looking in. Very best of luck!
