I am a TA in Kingston...does that count as Outer London? I'm on the princely sum of £6.50 an hour. Whoopee Bloody Doo.

Do you get holiday pay and paid for lunch break?

I do not get paid for lunch hour, but I do get paid every month of the year whether it is term time or not. I assume its my wage (£6.50x20 hours a week ) spread over 12 months.

Actually now you've bought it up, I have no idea how it really works! My school is not hot on staff issues like that!

is this any help?

Unison's website

I work as a ta and as a teacher.I get paid poorly for being a ta but I do think that it is a lovely job...

My pay is spread over 12 months. Some schools do offer more up to £10 per hour in east london where I work.Secondary tend to pay more.

This is Unison's report on TA's pay - it lists some examples from various LAs if you scroll down.

I get paid for 43.26 weeks a year, but it is paid in 12 monthly instalments, so I get the same in August (when I don't work at all)as I do in November (when I work for the whole month)

Rusty bear very interesting. Some schools in east london are paying more for ta's maybe as they might be the more difficult ones to work in?
