Sixth Form Waitlist

My DD has been put on the waiting list for a sixth form she had her heart set on. The sixth form are continuing to review applications and say they will send out further offers to those on the waiting list by the end of June. Do you think it’s a good idea for my DD to send an email of continued interest to admissions? Has anyone done this for sixth form before? Thanks!

It would be reasonable to do so and may be useful to the sixth form as typically applicants apply to multiple sixth forms so knowing she would actually take the place might be helpful. In the meantime visit and apply to more. Good luck!

@penfold78 what type of sixth form is it?

  1. A state sixth form in an 11-18 school?
  2. A state college or stand-alone 16+ school?
  3. A private school sixth form?

If 1, what were the oversubscription criteria?

I'm asking because sixth forms of type 1 have to follow the national admissions code, but often get it wrong. Some use predicted grades to rank applicants, which are not objective and therefore not a legal way of discriminating (the schools adjudicator has made this clear). If this is what has happened then politely pointing it out might help.

@soopa,thank you for your response. It’s a state standalone college. My DD sent them an email yesterday to confirm her interest in attending. We’ll have to wait and see now
