Asking on behalf of someone whose little one is going to be starting year 1 in England in September, coming from a country where they don't start school until 6, so with no previous formal education. They'd like to give their child a boost of the literacy and maths skills they'll need so as not to be behind their peers. Can you recommend any courses/programs that will help get them 'caught up' over the next few months? The parents will need guidance in how to teach, if that makes sense, so a course that recognises this rather than just worksheets or videos aimed at the child would be good.

I'd get a tutor for 30mins a week and some fun workbooks. I find kids never want to learn from their parents!
I'd focus on phonics and reading, assuming they can't already read? And watch Numberblocks!
