Private schools in Yorkshire - advice and recommendations needed!

Hi, we are relocating back to Yorkshire from abroad and are looking at private schools in Yorkshire. It would be great to get some general opinions from any parents who have children currently in the prep age for:
St Peter's, York
The Mount, York
Pocklington
Scarborough College.

Thanks, in advance!

The Mount is a lovely school, the pastoral care is great as are the facilities. It's also got lots of extra curricular opportunities.

Thank you! What is it like for day drop offs and collections?

We looked at a couple of those schools but ended up sending our children to Cundall Manor as we didn't want Saturday school and driving into central York every day can be a nightmare depending on where you live. I would just go visit them all. Cundall is definitlely worth a look and no Saturday school. Our 2 both done really well academically and great sport, music, art and extra curricular.

I would avoid Scarborough. It is not a nice town to live in and bring up a family these days sadly.

The Mount is not bad for drop offs and doesn't have Saturday school either if you want to avoid that.

Mount is v easy for drop offs etc (has its own large car park so no queuing). No Saturday school either.

My son is in year 3 at St. Peter's, and I couldn't be happier. He loves going to school and takes part in an incredible range of activities, both during school hours and as part of their after-school programme. I would highly recommend you visit the school.

Are you fixed on private/York? There's Ripon Grammar in the area if you are flexible on location?

Another vote for Cundall Manor - my sons have been so happy there
The new head is also good I hear

The villages around Scarborough are lovely, it’s just the shopping but that’s not great. There are nice areas of town.
But you might want to look at some of the state schools as there are quite a few that are outstanding. House prices in those areas are quite high though
