Advice on primary school appeal

Just looking for some advice - my son didn’t get into any of our preferred schools. Our first choice is only 0.47 m from home. Has anyone here gone through the primary school appeal process? Would it be worth appealing in this situation? Any tips or experiences would be really appreciated!

If the school is full, and it is an Infant Class Size appeal you need to demonstrate that an error occurred in processing the application according to the published criteria and your dc was denied a place as a result. Does the letter give details as to why you were not allocated a place at preferred school?

In my experience appeals are a formality but very few get a place via appeal. It’s a lot of work and stress, I would give it a whirl but in reality if it’s full it’s full and you’ll need supporting documents from third parties - GP/camhs/current school for example to have any chance of success.
get DS on the waiting list and keep fingers crossed. It’s a miserable time but it will work out.

i have contacted council for appeal today. They called me back that gave an example for my first preference - from our home is 0.47m but the last offer was 0.42. The rest preferences are in the similar situation. Better to add the additional schools and wait for the waiting list result.

Thank you for the advice. I spoke to council today. They suggest to keep on waiting list. Appeal has very low success rate.
