Where to move?

Hello everyone, we are trying to decide where to move. We are between Maldon, Great Dunmow and Saffron Walden. We are trying to decide based on the quality of the schools, the services availablein town and the commuting to London. Does anyone have any advice or opinion about this 3 towns? Tia 😊

Hi OP, we were looking in the same area, although we have settled on Bishop’s Stortford as we like the idea of single sex schooling for DD, plus it’s that bit easier to get back to north London to visit family and friends - bit of a head vs heart choice, as if it had been just me and DP we probably would have moved a bit further out.

However, we really liked Saffron Walden and we’re seriously considering moving there - great primaries, and SWCHS is huge but a very good school, with lots going on. We loved the on-site farm/agricultural unit, and Saffron Hall is an amazing facility for the Arts. Bit less going on in the town than Stortford (unsurprisingly, as it’s quite a bit smaller!) but a lovely community feel. It’s just been voted the best place to live in the U.K. by The Times though, so probably about to get pretty pricey and sought after!
